Our Philosophy

At Little Seeds Early Learning, we believe children are capable, curious and active participants in their learning. We create a calm, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, respected and supported to grow in confidence and independence.

Our play-based program is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and supported by intentional teaching. We design meaningful learning experiences based on each child’s interests, strengths and developmental needs. We value inclusion, equity and diversity, and are committed to creating a strong sense of belonging for all children and families. Through respectful and responsive practices, we honour each child’s identity, culture and voice.

Strong relationships are at the heart of what we do. We work in partnership with families to provide consistent, individualised care and meaningful learning experiences across our three learning environments. Children’s health, safety and wellbeing are central to our practice. We promote positive wellbeing, healthy lifestyles and opportunities for risk-aware play. Our educators are reflective professionals who are committed to continuous improvement, ensuring high-quality education and care for every child.

RIE Principles

Magda Gerber’s RIE philosophy underpins our approach to daily routines and learning within our under–3s community. Grounded in respectful interactions and practices, this approach supports the creation of a calm and secure environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence in themselves and in their emerging abilities.

Authentic Child
Each child is seen as capable and unique, supported in expressing their individuality within a calm, nurturing environment.
Trust in the infant's competence
Children are trusted as active participants in their own learning, encouraged to explore, try, and develop confidence at their own pace.
Respect
Every interaction is guided by respect, valuing each child’s thoughts, feelings, and developing sense of self.
Sensitive Observation
Educators carefully observe each child to understand their needs, interests, and development, responding with intention and care.
Involving the child
Children are included in everyday routines, fostering independence, cooperation, and a sense of belonging.
A safe, challenging environment
Spaces are thoughtfully designed to be secure yet stimulating, encouraging exploration, movement, and discovery.
uninterrupted play
Children are given time and freedom to engage deeply in play, supporting focus, creativity, and meaningful learning.
consistency
Predictable routines and familiar relationships create a sense of security, helping children feel confident and at ease.

All Weather Play

Outdoor play continues to hold value for children, even in wet or cooler weather. As children step outside into the rain or crisp air, they are not only engaging in enjoyable experiences, but also strengthening their sensory awareness, supporting their overall wellbeing, and contributing to the development of a healthy immune system.

Across the seasons, the outdoor environment becomes a living context for learning. Children begin to notice the changes in the air, the feel of rain on their skin, and the shifting landscape around them. These moments invite deeper thinking and conversation, as children express curiosity, wonder, and a growing appreciation for the natural world. Through intentionally embracing outdoor experiences in all weather conditions, children are supported to develop a respectful and meaningful connection with the environment.

Over time, this connection fosters an emerging understanding of sustainability and a sense of responsibility in caring for the world around them.
